Abstract:

STRUCTURAL DAMAGE DETECTION VIA VIBRATION SIGNALS PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN EARLY PREDICTION OF THE DEFECTS IN STRUCTURES IN INDUSTRIAL AND ACADEMIC RESEARCHES. FROM ALL DAMAGE DETECTION APPROACHES, THE METHODS BASED ON FINITE ELEMENT MODEL UPDATING AND MODAL ANALYSIS DATA ARE OF THE MOST IMPORTANCE DUE TO THEIR APPLICABILITY AND FEASIBILITY. ALSO DUE TO SOME RESTRICTIONS IN NODAL MEASUREMENTS IN EXPERIMENTAL CASES, FINITE ELEMENT MODEL REDUCTION IS AN INDISPENSABLE PART OF FAULT DETECTION METHODS. IN ADDITION, IMPROVED CONVERGENCE RATE AS WELL AS THE BETTER ACCURACY IS REQUIRED IN COMPLEX STRUCTURES FOR STRUCTURAL HEALTH MONITORING PURPOSES. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER IS TO DESIGN A DAMAGE DETECTION ALGORITHM BASED ON A NEW MODEL UPDATING METHOD WHICH HAS A FASTER RATE OF CONVERGENCE AND HIGHER ACCURACY. THEN THE PROPOSED METHOD IS APPLIED ON A SIMULATED DAMAGED BEAM AND ALSO THE NOISE EFFECTS ARE COMPLETELY STUDIED ON THE SIMULATION RESULTS. FINALLY AN EXPERIMENT TEST IS CONDUCTED TO OBSERVE THE CAPABILITY OF THE PROPOSED PROCEDURE IN IDENTIFYING THE DAMAGE IN THE BEAM-LIKE STRUCTURE. GENERALLY, IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT IDENTIFICATION OF DAMAGES BY THE PROPOSED METHOD IS ENCOURAGING AND ROBUST TO THE NOISE.

Abstract:

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are among the primary concerns in internet security today. Machine learning can be exploited to detect such attacks. In this paper, a multi-layer perceptron model is proposed and implemented using deep machine learning to distinguish between malicious and normal traffic based on their behavioral patterns. The proposed model is trained and tested using the CICDDoS2019 dataset. To remove irrelevant and redundant data from the dataset and increase learning accuracy, feature selection is used to select and extract the most effective features that allow us to detect these attacks. Moreover, we use the grid search algorithm to acquire optimum values of the model’s hyperparameters among the parameters’ space. In addition, the sensitivity of accuracy of the model to variations of an input parameter is analyzed. Finally, the effectiveness of the presented model is validated in comparison with some state-of-the-art works.

Abstract:

The aim of the present study was the histological evaluation of Enamel Matrix Derivative (EMD) effectiveness for regeneration of periodontal DEFECTs. EMD activates cementum synthesis, PDL and bone during the maturation stage of follicole. In this research, EMD was used in surgical DEFECTs of premolar teeth in four adult sheep. Muccoperiosteal flap was reflected in buccal site of teeth. The buccal bone plate was removed from mesial to distal in 4 mm depth. After eliminating the cementum by bur and its etching, EMD was applied on exposed dentine and flap was sutured. In opposite sites of those teeth (control sites) the same process was performed without etching. After 100 days, sheep were sacrificed and histological study through light microscopic was performed on black sections of operation sites. The results showed that in test sites, regeneration of cementum and bone was 62/5% and 42/5-50% respectively. But in control sites regeneration of cementum and bone was 37.5% and 32/5-42/5% respectively. Also the migration of junctional epithelium in control sites was 8-10% more than test sites. The important point is that in test sites, cementum was completely attached to undermining dentine. But, in control sites, the gap between cementum and dentine was visible. As a result, this study suggests that EMD promotes periodontal regeneration, and EMD application is a successful achievement in regenerative periodontal therapy.

In this paper, the evaluation of infrared thermography has been done to detect subsurface DEFECTs of polymer composite pipes made by filament winding METHOD. In this METHOD, in order to stimulate the test specimen, the heat flux is applied over the surface of the specimen and the thermal response is processed to detect DEFECTs. Experimental investigation was applied by hot air, optical pulse, and modulated stimulation on specimens were made with common controlled DEFECTs in composite materials. Interpretation of the results were utilized in the calculation of DEFECTs’ size and location, it was observed that in specimen with 4 mm thickness dry fiber DEFECT with a minimum size of 30 40 mm, delamination and inclusion DEFECTs with a minimum size of 25*25 mm clearly is detected and is measured. The evaluation of thermal stimulation techniques shows in the examined samples, according to the type of cylindrical structure and ability of applying thermal fluid to its internal side, the METHOD of hot air stimulation by the blower is a reliable METHOD and provides trusted results.

Abstract:

This study aims to design and manufacture a crack detection/measurement system for railway lines. Rolling contact fatigue cracks are among the most significant railway surface DEFECTs and most failures and rail fractures arise from this type of DEFECT. In case of well-timed detection of these cracks, the overgrowth of them and subsequently rail fracture could be avoided by preventive grinding. In this study, the capability of two conventional non-destructive METHODs for crack detection, including Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) and Eddy Current (EC) tests, have been evaluated. The results indicate that, despite capability of DETECTING the position and depth of cracks, the MFL METHOD has several limitations, such as the high weight of the yoke and high field strength, making the probe move harder over the rail. Instead, the EC probes are very light and excite the rail surface with a weak magnetic field, providing a higher scanning speed. Besides, EC probes indicate high accuracy and reliability for determination the location and depth of cracks. In RDD-S11, which is currently being used in lines one and two of Mashhad Urban Railway Company to detect three common DEFECTs, the proposed EC sensors have been used.

Statement of Problem: The goal of bone regenerative therapy is to reconstruct the damaged tissues to initial condition, which seems so important in periodontology and implantology. In such therapies, different biomaterials, with some advantages and disadvantages, may by use.Purpose: The aim of this research was to evaluate the quality, bone trabecular density and thickness of newly forming bone as well as foreign body reaction against Biostite®, in comparison with the control group.Material and METHODs: In this experimental study the total number of 5 sheep was operated with general anesthesia. At first 10 standard DEFECTs were created in 5x5x5 mm on the left and right edentulous mandibular ridge. Five DEFECTs were randomly treated by Biostite®, the remaining five were considered as controls. After six months, the sheep were sacrificed and the separated DEFECT areas with intact margin were placed in 10% formalin and prepared for histologic and histomorphometric study. To analyze the data, Mann- Whitney U test was used. Results: The mean percentage of new bone formation in Biostite®group was statistically more han the control group (P<0.05). Newly formed bone was vital in both groups which was a combination of lamellar and woven types, however, the thickness and density of new bone in biostite® group was more than the controls. Foreign body reaction was observed in Biostite® group. Conclusion: It is suggested that Biostite® synthetic material can be useful in bone regenerative therapies.

Abstract:

The microspectrophotometry METHOD, combining microscopic and spectroscopic METHODs, allows researchers to simultaneously record microscopic images and spectral information from micrometer-sized points Microspectrophotometer used in many applications, including color quality control in flat panel displays, thickness control of printed layers in semiconductor integrated circuits, movement of microfluids, study of biomaterials, study of precious stones and works of art. This tool can also be a very powerful METHOD in forensic laboratories to check the matching of colors in forging documents; Because it analyzes spectral information that reflects the chemical composition of the sample easily, at the moment and point, and does not need sample preparation and destroy the document In order to investigate the forgery of documents, in this research, a microspectrophotometer was used to analyze 7 different aqueous automata. The transmission spectra were performed with two different light sources, one in the visible range of 400 to 700 nm and the other in the ultraviolet to infrared range of 300 to 1100 nm. The results show that by selecting the appropriate spectral range, up to 83% of the difference between different inks can be achieved using this device.

Abstract:

This paper presents a new METHOD for monitoring and identifying over-flux in power transformers based on harmonic analysis. Today, over-flux protection of power transformers is done by monitoring the voltage-to-frequency ratio. When the ratio value exceeds the unit value, it should be detected. This METHOD may cause incorrect operation of the power transformer's over-flux protection due to voltage and frequency variations in the network. This paper proposes a new METHOD for DETECTING and identifying power transformer over-flux based on the total harmonic distribution. In addition, the equation and curve of flux and total harmonic distortion (THD) changes in the power transformer were obtained using DIGSILENT software, which can be used to design the over-flux protection. Based on the simulation results, a simple equation was presented to estimate the transformer flux value based on the THD value.
